The Stress of Waiting

Sometimes unexpected things happen such as a family member is taken to the emergency room. We spent 7-8 hours waiting while they were examined, tested, etc. That is a long time to be sitting in a waiting room chair. There are times you need to be available to speak to a doctor, or waiting for transport from one area to another. But, much of the time you're just sitting in a crowded waiting room, with people coughing and babies crying and your back aching. With the stress of waiting, it may not occur to you to take a walk outside. Many hospitals have a nearby natural area such as the one in the picture. That is a green space directly across the street from Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Sometimes it is a small courtyard between buildings. Whatever the size of the space available, it is helpful to go outside, breather fresh air and clear your mind for a moment. It will help you deal with the stress of the situation.
