Celebration in Self-Quarantine

The photo I've attached to this post is from last year's birthday celebration. I had turned 50 and was celebrating with friends. This year my birthday celebration was quite different due to a stay at home order. The COVID 19 pandemic has forced us to practice social distancing. So, my spouse planned a surprise video chat party with my closest friends. I was truly surprised. And, it was very nice to see the faces of those I love. I was feeling a bit down knowing a celebration would not be possible. Or was it? This experience taught me that love transcends time and space. I felt all the warmth from my friends that I would have felt if we had been out to dinner together. I was humbled that everyone made it to the virtual party. And, I'm reminded that we always have an opportunity to practice gratitude!
